KAMLOOPS OFF ROAD RACING (KORR) OFFICIAL RULES
                      GENERAL RULES

Rules are there for everyone’s safety. All class and safety rules must be abided by all participants and are implemented, and upheld by the KORR BC Committee. KORR BC does not imply a guarantee of safety against injury or death of a racer, pit crew member, spectator, official, or volunteer. All racers are responsible for themselves and any pit crew or family that is helping them during race weekend, both on and off the track. Anyone attempting to break any rules, or is breaking any rules will be dealt with sternly and as soon as possible by the committee.
The committee will investigate any infractions, questions, or disputes of these rules, and will determine if any action should be taken. The committee reserves the right to change any rule at any time. Changes to the rules will be posted as soon as possible on the web page and e-mail.
Any person entering the pit area must sign a release form before entering. This includes all racers, track staff, and spectators etc. KORR BC will not be responsible for property loss or accident. Minors must have parental consent and a signed release form to enter pits or participate in any part of race day events. All persons must display a current race-day wristband while in the pits or on the track. There will be no ATVs or motorcycles in the pit area or on the track unless used or authorized by KORR BC.
                              ·    Grounds entry fee
O    A $10 camping fee has been introduced to help cover the grounds maintenance. A racer is permitted one camper, tent or                     RV etc with their race fees.  Additional campers, tents or RVs etc will be required to pay the $10.
O    All entrants to the grounds (whenever they arrive) will pay a ‘grounds entry fee’ of $10. If they enter the pits, a further                             ‘pit pass fee’ of $5 fee will be charged.
o    A racer’s (principal driver only) grounds entry fee and pit pass fee are included in his registration (race class) fee.
o    Track workers will also pay both fees and will be issued a “Track Worker” coupon, which can be redeemed only after the                         race.
o    Track workers include recovery vehicle drivers, corner flag workers, registrars, PA announcer, video/camera men, lawn                     mowers,  pit boss, pit gate controllers, etc
o    If a racer arrives at the front gate on Sunday morning, after the front gates are manned, with a car on your trailer and 4                         guys in the truck. Entrance gate workers will charge them $40. The pit gate controller charges them $20. The registrar                         charges the principal race car driver his race day class registration fee.

                              ·    Alternate drivers & passengers
o    A vehicle will have listed one principal driver, and up to 4 alternate drivers.
o    All drivers (principal and alternate) must be society members at $40 each.
o    Alternate drivers can be signed up at any time, but before registration closes on race day.
o    The same alternate driver can be signed up for several vehicles for a single $40 society membership.
o    You can carry as many passengers in a day as you like.
o    Every passenger must be a society member at $20.
o    Passengers can be registered at any time, but before registration closes on race day.
o    Registered passengers can ride in any vehicle on any day.

                              ·    Racers under the age of 18 years of age must have our waiver form signed by BOTH of the parents or guardians prior to                           racing . An absentee parent may send a notarized letter of permission.

                              ·    ALL NOVICE drivers must be required to:
o    Use a rear facing flashing amber light for their first 4 races.
o    Use a clearly marked yellow rear bumper for their first 4 races.
o    Comply the first day race out only to:
o    Run 5 solo hot laps and be evaluated by the committee in order to participate.
o    Start at the back of the pack in both heats.
o   Choose to start the main in his earned position.
o    Have the option that no alternate driver or passenger is required.

Only the vehicle earns points. Drivers with no experience racing can get permission from the committee to race in a lower class even if their vehicle exceeds that class’s maximum limitations. The committee will give a one race notice to move up a class when the driver meets committee’s approval, and when the driver proves he is safe to do so.

There will be no alcohol consumed on race days. No alcohol in the pit area, no exceptions period. No driver, alternate driver or passenger may consume alcohol until the race day has finished. No illegal drugs of any kind are allowed on the Whispering Pines Raceway property. Prescription medications are allowed for the prescribed individual and only for its intended use. Any prescription medications must be declared to track officials during driver registration. Anyone caught abusing these rules risks immediate expulsion, confiscation of the banned substance, and police involvement.

Any verbal or physical abuse towards committee members, volunteers, racers, pit crew, or spectators will not be tolerated. Warnings will be issued, and if offending party(s) are uncooperative or continue with their abuse, they will be evicted from the premises.

There will be no person(s) or foot traffic on the track surface while the race is in progress. Any person wanting to cross the track between races will do so only with the consent of the Starter.

Any recovery vehicle wanting to recover a damaged vehicle from the track surface must do so only with the permission of the Starter. After returning a damaged vehicle to the pits, the recovery vehicle will not enter the track surface and resume their stand-by position without permission of the Starter.

All recovery vehicles  shall have a revolving amber light, provided by KORR BC, which shall be place on the roof of their vehicle. All lights are to be returned to the C-Can after the race is finished.

Any driver wishing to dispute or discuss safety concerns has that option. They can bring it to the attention of the designated official. Names of the officials and their race day responsibilities will be posted by the registration. Therefore, racers can direct questions, disputes, or problems to appropriate people for efficient resolution.

It is up to the driver of the vehicle to conform to all rules, specifications, and regulations, and no excuse will be accepted for having an illegal vehicle. The driver is responsible to abide by class rules, and to prove to the Tech. that the vehicle is within specifications. The driver is also responsible to remove any part(s) that the Tech. requests at the driver’s expense. The Tech. has the authority to refuse any driver or vehicle to race. Per the discretion of the Tech., there will be a “One Race Grace” for a non safety related concern. Should the driver choose not to correct the problem(s), he faces a 10 point penalty per violation at the next race, for all concerned that have not been corrected.

KORR BC has a protest procedure for class, safety, and track rule violations. The person (drivers only) launching the protest will be required to fill out a protest form available at the registration trailer, and to give a $100 deposit against the intended driver. This money will be held in trust by the committee. Protest forms will be accepted no later than twenty (20) minutes after the main event for the disputed class has ended. The committee will make their decision as soon as possible. If a driver is found to be in violation of the official rules, the offender will have to pay KORR BC a $100 penalty, and will lose points earned up to the time of protest for that race day. Also, the offender will have to comply with all KORR BC rules before continuing to race. The driver launching the protest will get their deposit back if the committee finds in their favour. If the committee finds no violation has taken place, the driver launching the protest will forfeit their $100 deposit.

The driver filing the protest will be allowed to bring one crew member with him during the protest. The driver who the protest is against will also be allowed to bring one crew member with him during the protest. These four persons will meet with the protest manager and Tech. inspector to resolve the protest. All drivers and their pit crew will allow the committee and Tech. to do their investigation into the protest, and determine what action will be taken, if any. Any accused driver refusing an inspection of their vehicle will be asked to leave forfeiting any points gained during that race day. The vehicle must then be inspected before it will be allowed to participate in any other KORRBC sanctioned race in the future.

                      TRACK RULES
The Starter will be responsible for hot laps, heats, and main race activities while race vehicles are on the track surface. The Pit Boss will be responsible for all pit activity leading onto the track surface.

There will be no tolerance for speeding in any vehicle (race, quad, motorcycle, tow, or support etc.) while leaving the track surface or anywhere in the pits at any time. The pit area has a 5mph speed limit and will be strictly enforced. No race vehicles will enter the race surface other than at the designated pit entrance under the direction of the Pit Boss.

If any vehicle breaks on the track, all occupants of that vehicle will stay harnessed and will wear their secured helmet while other vehicles are still moving on the track. The only exception to this rule is if an obvious danger (i.e. leaking fuel or fire) is present. In this case, the occupant(s) will then make every attempt to exit the vehicle as soon as possible. The nearest track official on the oncoming traffic side of the hazard vehicle will flag (yellow/red) the hazard vehicle due to severity or type of breakage. (See flag rules under Flags and restart procedures below and Starting.)

Roll-overs followed by a stall will produce an immediate red flag, stopping the race. Drivers are responsible to give responding officials and first aid truthful and concise answers to health or injury related questions if possible. The vehicle can be righted up if the driver gives consent that no injury is present. Any car involved in a roll-over accident must be checked on the track by the safety crew before being allowed to continue. If the vehicle and driver can continue, all race vehicles on the track will be put in position they will restart the race. If the vehicle is broke and driver unhurt, the race will be restarted without him.

When the race is ready to be restarted, the race position will be Start in the same order as the last green flag lap for all except the red flagged or any other stuck vehicle. Roll-over, stalled, and stuck vehicles will have a chance to be recovered and return to the racing during a red flag stoppage. They will lose one lap for the assistance and start at tail end of the pack.

The intentional cutting across of any non-official track surfaces while racing to gain position or to make the driver able to be in position to finish the race, will penalize that driver with a DNF. Cutting across the designated race course is only permitted during entrance from the pits onto the racing surface before the start of the race, or if directed by a track official during a restart. If in the course of racing a vehicle is unintentionally forced off of the racing surface, that driver must return to the track. This must be done as soon as possible, as safely as possible, and as close to the point where the vehicle originally left the racing surface.
After the race winner crosses the finish line, any assistance by track workers or officials to a stalled, stuck or broke vehicle still on the track, penalizes that racer with a DNF for that race only. That racer will receive points for laps completed. Vehicles have two minutes to cross the finish line unassisted after the checkered flag in order to not receive a DNF.

                      FLAGS
Drivers must know, recognize, and obey each of the following flags. Failure to abide the flag bearer can result in loss of position, the driver receiving a penalty, or a DNF. This is at the discretion of the Starter. The definition of rough driving is the deliberate misuse of one vehicle to gain an advantage over another through contact.

GREEN:    Start or restart    This is from the starting tower. When the flag is pointed at the ground, drivers are at the ready. Drivers may go when the flag is fully raised in the air and waved.

YELLOW:    Hazard on track    Vehicles must slow their speed and can not pass. Drivers can continue to race once past the hazard. A yellow waving flag will be shown until all other drivers have passed the hazard and a furled yellow will be shown for each subsequent lap until hazard is not present.

RED:    Stop    This must be done as soon and as safe as possible regardless of location on the track. Wait for instructions from track officials on restart position. Be patient and prepared to wait for track to be cleared of hazard.

FULL BLACK:    Report to Pit Boss    The Starter and Pit Boss will wave a full (un-furled) black flag at a driver to indicate intentional rough driving. The driver must then immediately and as safely as possible report to the Pit Boss at the pit-to-track entrance to be informed of the infraction. If the driver has committed an infraction, two possibilities can occur. He will either be told to return to the pits, ending his race, giving him a DNF, and voiding any points for that particular race, or he will be given a stop and go penalty and told to return to racing by the Pit Boss.

FURLED BLACK:    Warning to Driver    The Starter and Pit Boss will point a furled black flag at a driver warning him of unintentional contact.

WHITE with RED CROSS:    Vehicle Problem     If the vehicle has a fault or hazard, the driver will shown this flag. He can then choose to continue to race or pull off at the pit to track entrance and be told of the fault from the Pit Boss. If the driver pulls off, he will then choose to either resume racing or return to the pit area to fix the problem if possible, and then resume racing if the race is still in progress.

WHITE:    Last Lap.    This indicates the last lap before the end of the race.

CHECKERED:    End of race.    After passing the finish line, all racers will slow down and exit the race track in a controlled and safe manor after receiving this flag.

COMPETITION YELLOW:    Bunching of Vehicles    The starter will hold up a yellow flag on the completion of the 4th lap for heats, and the 6th lap for mains. When you see the flag, pull in behind the pace truck, and follow around to the start. Stay as tight as you can, and prepare to resume racing. The pace truck will pull off, the starter will wave the green, and the race will be on.

                      STARTING

KORR BC will draw for start order for the day for UTV, Outlaw, Sportsman, Mini and Limited classes.

Pro classes will race last for all events. All vehicles will follow the KORR BC pace truck from the pit gate to the starter’s tower, where you will be staged for the land rush, or green flagged for the rolling start.

LAND RUSH START: (DRAG RACE START)    This start occurs on the first race of the day for each class. This is a standing start with as many race vehicles that will fit across the track on the last jump before the finish line. If there are more vehicles than can fit on the first row, a second row will be made. The order is decided from a lottery draw.

2 x 2 ROLLING START:    This start occurs on the second and third race starts, and red flag restarts. Vehicles will approach starting line in a slow and controlled speed in rows of two. If the starter is satisfied that the drivers are in a properly staged starting position, he will start the race. If the Starter is not satisfied, the drivers must circle around the pit-to-track entrance and line up again for the Starter. The order of the second race is determined by inverting the finishing order of the first race. This means moving the last to first position, 2nd last to 2nd position, and so on. The finishing positions of the second race will directly determine the starting positions for the final race with no inversions.

RED FLAG RESTART:    1) Start in the same order as the last green flag lap. If an unintentional pass is made while stopping for the red flag, no penalty is given, but the driver must go back to his prior position before passing. Track officials will instruct racers on the restarting position. Co-operation and patience is recommended from all racers on track to minimize restart time.
                      2) If a red flag occurs on the first lap only, the race may be completely restarted with the same starting procedure. If a red flag is not on the first lap, a 2 x 2 rolling start will occur.
                      3) If the vehicle that caused the red flag can continue, it must start at the back of the vehicles of the lap he was on when the flag was produced and is penalized one lap at the end of the race. Stuck vehicles will be recovered while under red flag stop and will start at the tail end of all the other racers when restarting. The stuck vehicles will be also be penalized one lap for the assistance

                      POINT STRUCTURE
2 HEATS (6  LAPS) AND 1 MAIN EVENT RACE (9 LAPS) ON RACE DAYS
Each heat or main race has points available. Points are earned according to how many class racers entered at the start of the race day (based on registration numbers) and finish the heat or main. All vehicles/members get awarded 10 points for turning a wheel on race day. Racers earn one point for every unassisted lap completed.

For example, if 8 cars start the race day in the same class. The winner of the first heat would receive 8 points plus points for completed laps; second place would earn 7 points plus completed lap points, etc. If all racers finish the heat, last place would earn 1 point plus points for laps completed. In the second heat, as many vehicles would compete as possible from the previous race. The winner would still earn 8 points plus points for laps completed; second place would still earn 7 points plus completed lap points, etc. regardless of how many racers compete. The main race doubles the points available and is still based on how many class racers entered at the start of the race day (i.e. 16 points for the winner plus completed lap points, 14 points for second place plus points for laps completed, etc.). Therefore, this particular example of a race day would earn a maximum of 32 points plus the completed lap points, plus 10 points if the racer is an associate member. Only the place points are doubled during a race day (be it the main heat, or during a “Double Points Race.”

All classes will run 2 heats of 6 laps, and 1 main of 9 laps. A mandatory, competition bunch will occur on the completion of the 3rd lap in heats, and the 6th lap in the main. Full lap points shall be awarded to all vehicles that cross the finish line under their own steam should a situation arise requiring the class to be stopped early.

                              ·    If a vehicle is sold mid season:
o    Points stay with the sold vehicle only if the driver and number stay the same.
o    Points end if both driver and number changes by new owner.

                              ·    If a vehicle is replaced mid season in the same class:
o    Points will stay with the new vehicle only if the driver and number stay the same.
o    Points end if both driver and number changes.
o    Replaced vehicle may not race again in the same class for the duration of the season.

                              ·    Vehicles registered for season points may not be substituted by another vehicle in the same class by changing numbers to                   maintain points in any race.

                              ·    If a Black flag or Red flag is shown, but not obeyed within three laps, the driver will be penalized with a DNF and by not                           receiving points for that race.

                              ·    Prize Payout:
o    Each class’s prize pool will include their total class entry fees less KORR BC fees** +
o    Class will pay out 1st for up to 3 class entries
o    Class will pay out 1st and 2nd from 4 to 5 class entries plus 1 more pay out position for every 3 more entries.

                      ** Prize Pool per class:
                      Pro buggy/Pro truck - $90/$150 entry fee
